The longest running Worldwide DJ Competition “The DMC World DJ Championships” is back for 2024 and this year we introduce the NEW “Open Format Category” where any equipment (CDJs / Controllers/ Effects) will be allowed! This category is aimed at the Club DJ and promises to be a crowd pleaser. Competitors have to win over the judges as well as the crowd with a 12min set mixing multiple genres and styles creatively. We are going back to the roots with the category and hopefully open doors for DJs of all different genres to compete in the DMC. There is already hype for this category at the World Finals and we are very excited to be launching it down under. Our popular classic 6 min category will run as per usual and will cater to the dedicated Turntablist / Scratch DJs.
DMC will be touring the country with Heats in every major state throughout this August and September. All state champs will land in Melbourne to battle it out at the National Finals Saturday on the 14th September at the iconic Revolver, and the lucky winners (from both categories) will travel to Paris for the World Finals on 18th October. Headlining the finals is the 3 X World Champ JFB (UK) who will also be head judge of the 2 categories on the night.
DMC reached our shores in 1988 and gave many Australian DJs an opportunity to showcase their talents on a world stage. Many past Australian DMC Champs have made a long lasting career in this very competitive industry. This year DMC Australia is joining forces with DJ CITY to level up production and give the competitors as well as punters a lil something extra at the Championships.
DJ Max Best from Tasmania took out the Australian Title last year and placed 4th at the World Finals in San Francisco! Let’s see if he will defend and do it once again. Many new talented DJs as well as established DJs will be entering in every state to take on their reigning state champion and fight for the crown. followed by WA, NSW, QLD, and TAS.
